The aim of this programme is to educate highly qualified professionals, in terms of their artistry, technique, and conceptualization in response to the challenges posed by contemporary staging. The programme focuses on a set of fundamental aspects of training in staging, namely:
- Mastering the support techniques of the different aesthetic discourses, through in-depth knowledge of the theatrical spaces (conventional and non-conventional) and the way to treat them scenically (lighting, sound scenography, costume design, props, and makeup).
- Developing dramaturgical skills, specifically pertaining to ascribing a dramaturgical perspective to scene work and the structuring of an analytical discourse about this work.
- The contextualization of stage projects with regard to the different perspectives arising from production work.
In summary, the student is expected to develop a wide range of skills related to stage productions (acting direction, dramaturgy, scene design, and production) so that they can provide a specialized response, as directors, to the different contingences, requests and opportunities present in the contemporary theatre scene.
