Located in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, the municipality of Amadora prepares to receive "Launch of the Shows Cine Amadora", considered the country's fourth largest city in population density, the city of Amadora is known for its rich cultural diversity represented by its more than 100 different nationalities residing in its territory.
The presentation of the "Cine Amadora" will happen on the 4 and November 5 at the Amadora Recreios, the "Cine Amadora" promises to be a cinematic showcase and a space dedicated to celebrating the cultural richness of the Portuguese-speaking countries.
The "Launching of the Shows Cine Amadora" event will display diverse cinematographic genres, with the aim of presenting films that dialogue with the local community, exposing their narratives, cultures, and challenges faced by female filmmakers. This show aims to be an inclusive space, stimulating debates and reflections through cinema in Portuguese language.
The "Launching of the Shows Cine Amadora" relies on the support and collaboration of the oldest film school in the country, the Amadora Superior School of Theatre and Cinema, a reference in film training. We will also hold a session with curatorship of the Porto Femme festival with a programming dedicated to women working and producing cinema in Portuguese-speaking countries.
On the November 5, in celebration of World Cinema Day, we will promote a debate with the theme "Women in Cinema", which will count on the participation of Raquel Freire, Rita Capucho and Luísa Sequeira. After the interventions of the guests, the discussion will be open to the public.
In addition to the exhibitions, the "Cine Amadora 2024" will also contest with debates, releases of editions, music and workshops, where filmmakers will share their experiences and discuss issues relevant to the production and representativeness in the cinema of Portuguese-speaking countries.
The entrance will be free and open to the whole community.
