Thursday, July 21, the activities of the Polytechnic Academy of Lisbon were held in the Amadora, at the Higher School of Theatre and Cinema, initiated with a speech by President David Antunes about how the arts can be useful in future life.
David Antunes referred to one of the School's main missions: "what we do is create and teach people." Although the building is relatively recent, the origin of the School already refers to the nineteenth century and so the great competitiveness to join and the high recognition in the labour market.
After the speech, the participants met the School's film studio, to realize how the scenarios work, saw three short ones effected by the School's students, contacted with some of them and asked questions about the courses and about the job market in this area.
From the cinema, the participants of the Lx Polytechnic Academy have passed to the theatre area, to the realization of the workshop Theatre and Community, with some activities of movement, body and reading. To finalize, the participants met "the lesser-known branches of the degree in Theatre: Design of Cena and Production, courses these very practical and with very comprehensive valences," recounted João Meirinhos, from the ESTC's Communication and Imaging office.
The ultimate goal of the activities this afternoon was, referred to João Meirinhos, "finding the realization of how art is not a secondary product in our life, but an extremely important product for our personal and social development".
