OPEN APPLICATIONS ee July 31 to September 7, 2023
The Portuguese Film Academy and Netflix announce the opening of the PITCH ME convocation!, aimed at discovering the work of emerging defendants, through a writing development program in the format of residencies, and which aims to offer the authors of the selected projects an opportunity to collaborate and develop their ideas, guided by a team of professionals-argumentalists, mentors, script doctors, etc.
After its first edition, in 2019, within the framework of the "A Four Hands" initiative PITCH ME! regressa, this time focused on the diversity and inclusion of authors and narratives of segments of the population at risk of social exclusion, underrepresented in cinema and audiovisual, such as: people with ethnic, cultural, sexual, gender diversity, functional diversity, or disability, people from disadvantaged socio-economic background.
The initiative aims to select emerging authors who will be able to develop projects through a two-residency program, one at the beginning of the program and another at the end. Between the two residences, and over the course of 4 months, there will be a set of mentoring sessions with professionals from the sector (namely, argumentalists).
The program will culminate in a preseason event with a pitch of the projects developed before a group of professionals representing the Portuguese film and audiovisual industry.
The jury responsible for the evaluation of projects is composed by the poet and playwright André Tecedeiro, the director Ary Zara, the actress, producer and argumentalist Ciomara Morais, the argumentalist and editor Marta Lança and the journalist and writer Paula Cardoso.
